Episode 429: Yaesu FT-65R Unboxing, Review | Baofeng Killer?

The Yaesu FT-65R has been called a Baofeng Killer. Today I do an unboxing of this radio and go through the menus. This is a nice little dual band radio with a simple menu and limited features, but it has some good potential.

  1. I’m not to much into HT’s, with the Yaesu FT-250R being my go to handi-talky if needed (not much).
I recently bought an FT-65R recently from HRO(Atlanta), along with the Diamond SRJ77CA 15in long whip antenna, SSM-17B Speaker/Mic, 2600mh battery, and just ordered a shorter Nagoya 701(F) 8in whip.
Watched a KS6DAY YouTube video that sold me on it. I don’t use HT’s that much.
My 2nd newest dual band HT is a Kenwood G71A, so yah it was time.
