Episode 93: Catching Up with Bob, W2CYK, from RFinder

Episode 93: Catching Up with Bob, W2CYK, from RFinder

In Episode 60, I had my first interview with Bob, W2CYK, about the new Android DMR device from RFinder. In this new episode, I wanted to catch up with Bob and talk about some updated to the Android DMR phones, and also gain some new knowledge about additional products upcoming in 2017.

I carry the RFinder M1 as my daily carry Android device. It works great as a phone, and on local analog and DMR repeaters. I’m happy to have Bob’s support of my show and I’m happy to support his products.

  1. That droid radio is HUGE. DO you actually carry that brick around? How much does it weigh?

    1. Yep, this is what I carry. It’s maybe a pound. Probably less. It’s smaller than a Samsung Note with an OtterBox, but probably weighs more.

    2. Jay,
I just took a picture of my Note2 in an Otterbox next to the M1 (I can’t figure out how to attach a photo to this forum). The Note2 is bigger, yet almost an ounce lighter. The problem is that the Otterbox degrades the smoothness of the capacitive touchscreen. The M1 is already hardened and watertight with a gloriously smooth screen. I’m going swimming overseas next week with the M1 and considering making it my daily driver. Also, when I don’t talk much on the radio, this battery lasts for 3-4 days on AT&T LTE.

  2. Hi Bob, i am hamradio in Quebec i bought e81 i thing i made a mistake i bought runbo e81 I thought it was the same thing I did not know but rfinder does not work on this cell is it normal.
May be there is cell problem i do not know. Thank you
