It removes the 10-meter and 6-meter bands from the mix, and provides you with a power-house dual band radio, which are the most popular of the bands for Amateurs. Lots of users of the TH-9800 are only using the radio for 2-meter or 70-centimeter anyway, so with the updated hardware and lower cost, this TH-7800 makes an excellent rig for anyone for a Ham License of any class. (Technicians cannot use the 10-meter FM portion of the band on the TH-9800)

I have been wanting to get this TYT 7800 to put in my truck, but i have been told that if you accidentally transmit over 20 watts , that you can burn up the Garmin unit. Us there a way to dial this unit down ? Or is it a matter of just remembering to disconnect the roof mount antennae each time before you key up?
I like the power of this unit. But i dont always need the power.

LOW setting is 5 watts, MID 2 is 10 watts, MID 1 is 20 watts, HIGH is 50 watts VHF and 40 watts UHF.
I have the TYT TH7800, earlier today when turning it on, it had apparently it locked up. After numerous attempts I was able to work the right bank. The left bank only shows “12.0 V” and will not do anything else. Unit is only a month old. Any ideas? Thanks 73s. Vernon
